Investigation Underway After Oklahoma County Detention Center Inmate Dies

27-Year-Old Lucas Gonzales was taken to the hospital after being found unresponsive in his cell.

According to a release from the jail, Gonzales was found Monday after inmates cleaning a pod alerted jail officers.

Officers and medical staff gave life-saving efforts and called for an ambulance.

Paramedics and firefighters continued CPR and took Gonzales to a hospital.

Gonzales died shortly before 5 p.m.

The release states that a detention officer interacted with Gonzales an hour before the incident and did not indicate any cause for concern.

Investigators are unsure how Gonzales died.

Gonzales was booked into the jail on Oct. 16.
