Fire crews are responding to a house fire at Simmons and Penn in Deer Creek.
Deer Creek Fire Department, Oak Cliff Fire Department and Edmond Fire Department are on the scene.
The fire initially was alerted by the smoke alarm inside the home. While firefighters were in route, a neighbor called and said it was an active fire.
Crews were initially inside the home at first, and thought they had it knocked down. However, when they tried to get into the ceiling, they believed the fire was already in the floors, and it spread quickly fast.
Firefighters had to get out and start attacking the fire from the outside.
It’s a two-story building plus a finished basement. No one was home and no pets were injured.
The American Red Cross was called in to provide warm drinks and a place to warm up for firefighters.
Crews are still trying to get control of the fire.
