Police Investigating Shooting In Norman That Left 1 Dead

Police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting in Norman on Thursday.

Police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting in Norman on Thursday. 

Officers said the suspect shot two people, killing one of them, before exchanging gunfire with police.

The shooting happened near the intersection of E. Comanche Street and Porter just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

When police arrived, officers said the suspect was armed and refused to comply with their commands.

According to officers, he then fired at police, who returned fire and the suspect was shot.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

No officers were injured.

There were two victims with gunshot wounds located nearby.

One victim died because of injuries sustained during the initial shooting.

A second victim was transported to an area hospital, where they are being treated for injuries sustained during the incident.

Currently, NPD is not actively looking for any additional involved parties or vehicles.

The officers involved in the shooting incident have been placed on routine administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation.
