Owasso Public Schools is giving the community the chance to offer feedback on what they would like to see from the district's next superintendent.
The district also announced the school board is partnering with the Oklahoma State School Board Association to help find the next person to lead one of the biggest districts in the state.
The school board is looking for a permanent candidate to replace Dr. Amy Fichtner, who resigned at the end of December.
The board named Dr. Margaret Coates the interim superintendent, she has been serving since the start of 2022.
Dr. Coates previously worked as an assistant superintendent before retiring ahead of the 2021 school year.
The district says it began accepting applications for its new superintendent this week and will keep the window open until April 1st.
A survey is available on the district's website for the community to offer what they would like to see in the next superintendent.
The district says the OSSBA will organize focus groups involving the community before a decision is made.
The district expects interviews to happen in the middle of April and hopes to have a permanent decision announced by the end of this school year.
