A Bristow family is devastated after their home of 50 years burned down.

Everyone got out safely, but the home was destroyed. There was one person inside the house when it caught fire but he's okay. Now, the family is just trying to cope with everything they've lost.

"To see it go up like this, it really it takes a lot," said Denise Buckley.

Denise Buckley said this was her family home. Inside were all her precious photos and family treasures.

"My children's pictures, graduations. It's just clothes and materials can be replaced but the memories here are gone."

Firefighters say earlier this week, a controlled burn nearby sparked a big grass fire on their land but it didn't impact the home.

"The property was all burnt up and got close to the house," said Erick Adkins. "I was thankful our house didn't get hit."

Wednesday, the home caught fire and firefighters don't know if it's related to the grass fire. Erick Adkins was the only one inside. He was asleep when the flames started spreading.

"Something was telling me to get up and once I got up, I was seeing my whole house was on fire," he said. "It was smoking and I look up and see flames."

Erick has burns on his arm but is okay.

Denisse said she and her family are devastated, but thankful because many people are offering to help and she has a place to stay.

"I want to hug every one of you tell you all to thank you," she said. "It's just one day at a time

Tribal police are investigating the cause of the fire. Denise said she plans to rebuild here on their family land as soon as they can get back on their feet.
