The Postal Service and AAA hosted a passport fair Saturday afternoon for people looking to get a new one ahead of this summer.

People who stopped by on Saturday said it was important for them to get their passports as travel starts to ramp up again.

Jon Stevens decided to take his family to get a passport because his kids are hoping to travel internationally this summer.

“It’s been crazy the last two years, with everyone confined and not able to do anything,” said Stevens. “The kids are just chomping at the bits to get out and go somewhere and see something besides Bixby, Oklahoma.”

In order to make it easier for people to get theirs done, the USPS teamed up with AAA for Saturday's fair in Tulsa.

People were able to sign up online for a time slot.

Nicole Stobaugh with the USPS said they wanted to hold today’s fair on a weekend to make it more accessible to people who might be busy during their normal business hours.

“Being the fact that it’s a weekend, some people have weekends off and it’s just easier to not have to hassle taking your children out of school or taking the time off because not everybody has the ability to do that,” said Stobaugh.

She adds that this time of year, more people are looking for passports.

“It’s convenient, and everybody wants a passport because it’s getting ready to be that time of year, for it to be warm, and for everybody to go out and enjoy the sunshine.”

Stevens says he is thankful for the fair because it allowed them to get the paperwork done quickly.

“This is too easy,” said Stevens. “A whole lot simpler than when I got mine ten years ago, so there’s no reason not to.”

Stobaugh says they’re hoping to host more passport fairs in the future.
