East and westbound traffic on I-44 near the Broken Arrow Expressway will see lane closures in the coming months for a bridge rehabilitation project. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation estimates the project will take five months.
On Monday, crews will narrow I-44 between the Broken Arrow Expressway and 41st and Sheridan into one lane so they can start setting up traffic control for the project. ODOT anticipates keeping two lanes once crews get underway.
A spokesperson for ODOT says the focus will be on the eastbound lanes before shifting attention to the westbound side. Drivers can expect to see some slowdowns as crews limit speeds to 50 MPH.
The project is a part of ODOT’s plan to preserve bridges.
