Each year, the Small Business Association picks one person from each state to be recognized as the state's small business person of the year.
Oklahoma's recipient of this year’s title works in Green Country.
Adam Oglesbee from Coweta is the CEO of Warfeather, a contractor for several government projects. Some of the work is centered around VA hospitals and military bases around the country.
Oglesbee is a veteran himself. He says the company also completes a handful of other projects geared towards making life easier for other veterans, like widening doors.
He founded Warfeather in 2008 and has seen lots of growth in recent years. Oglesbee says his hope is to create more jobs with the recognition and also be a resource to others.
“Now that we’ve been honored with this, I think that it comes with a real sense of duty to represent the state well and make myself available to other small businesses that are trying to achieve success that are struggling in the same way that we struggled,” said Oglesbee.
The company will take part in the Small Business Association’s virtual ceremony next month. Oglesbee is also in contention to receive the national small business owner award.
