Drivers in Owasso will notice some lanes closed in a busy part of town while construction crews begin a new project. One lane in each direction on 86th Street North will close during the construction. Drivers and business owners in the area said the construction is already impacting their daily commute.
“There are other ways to go around in Owasso, but I feel like this is the main revenue of traffic," said Camon Dunlap. He said he drives on 86th Street North every day to get to work. Dunlap said he understands construction is part of growth for the city but said it is already adding 10 to 15 minutes extra to his drive. “There are other ways to go around in Owasso, but I feel like this is the main revenue of traffic," said Dunlap.
Crews are going to be making repairs to the street, gutters, and driveways. One store in the area said it is already causing confusion for some customers. “There are other ways to go around in Owasso, but I feel like this is the main revenue of traffic," said Madison Hancock.
Rust & Ruffles is near the intersection of 86th Street North and 129th Avenue. Hancock said drivers should be cautious in the area and give themselves plenty of extra time. “If I was to travel that way it would probably be anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes extra probably, but since I have another route I can take, I just take the other route," said Hancock.
The city said construction on 86th Street North should finish in June.
