Oklahoma City police said a homicide investigation is underway following a Thursday afternoon shooting.
The shooting happened at a home near Northwest 63rd Street and North Meridian Avenue, which is just south of the Northwest Expressway.
Lynn Wilkey said he's lived in the neighborhood for more than 15 years.
Wilkey said to walk outside his home and see his neighbor was left for dead is unsettling.
“It's unfortunate guys, but I guess that's the way of the world,” Wilkey said. “Things are getting more unfortunate. Oklahoma City is getting more unstable, I’m afraid.”
Police said the dispute stemmed from a family argument.
“It started out as a verbal altercation. It escalated to gunfire. One person was found deceased here at the scene,” Oklahoma City Police Department Sergeant Dillon Quirk said.
Wilke said the tragedy is disappointing and said this is not the same quiet neighborhood he once knew.
“We have children on this street. We have some young families in the last couple of years that have moved in guys, and you know, that's not good for them,” Wilkey said.
OCPD confirmed that a suspect in connection with the homicide investigation is now in custody.
