OHP: 2 injured Following Crash Near Verdigris River

Two people were injured following a crash Sunday morning on the Will Rogers Turnpike, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Two people were injured following a crash Sunday morning on the Will Rogers Turnpike, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The crash happened over the Verdigris River where the driver fell asleep behind the wheel, troopers said.

OHP said the vehicle departed the roadway to the left and collided with a concrete barrier, then went into a grass median.

The vehicle then went airborne at approximately 144 feet, according to troopers.

Both the driver, 58-year-old Carl Oliber, and passenger, 55-year-old Charissa Thomas, were transported to the hospital, troopers said.

Both remain in stable condition, according to OHP.
