OSBI Agents Arrest Man In Connection To 1993 Cold Case In McCurtain County

Agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) have made an arrest in connection with a 1993 cold case murder in McCurtain County.

According to the OSBI, agents arrested John Smith for the murder of John O'Steen.

Agents say the investigation started in May of 1993 when an anonymous caller told McCurtain County deputies where O'Steen's remains were after O'Steen had been missing for months.

The victim wasn't identified until 2012 when a forensics lab matched DNA from the remains to O'Steen's parents.

Agents Identified Smith as a suspect and arrested him on Friday.
