Vendors are getting ready for the big crowds that are expected in the coming days at River West Festival Park for this year’s Oktoberfest.

Organizers said the set up for Oktoberfest has been underway since the start of the month, but planning is a year-round task.

Frieder Frotscher is among the vendors putting the finishing touches on his trailer, which is full of handmade steins imported from his home country of Germany. He travels across the United States and said Tulsa’s event is one of the best.

“We are traveling and doing a lot of Oktoberfests,” said Frotscher. “Tulsa is always one of the most authentic ones.”

Festival director Tonja Carrigg said it is a team effort from people who want to donate their time to make sure each Oktoberfest lives up to the hype.

“Our volunteers do everything from greeting customers at the gate to wearing trachten,” said Carrigg.

For the second year in a row, there will be no on-site parking. Shuttles will be used to get visitors to and from the festival, with parking available at different lots throughout Tulsa.

Corporate night is set for Wednesday, Oct. 19, while everyone else can attend starting Thursday.
