The American Automobile Association is preparing for an increase in calls amidst a winter storm stretching across Oklahoma.
AAA said each winter, hazardous weather is a factor in more than half a million crashes, and more than 2,000 road deaths across the country.
The association said the best ways to stay safe, are to take it slow, avoid turning on cruise control on slick roads, and leave plenty of room between you and other cars.
Before hitting the streets, AAA said to make sure you have at least a half a tank of gas, and to check the air pressure in our tires.
"Underinflated tires can generate more heat and the heat is bad on the rubber," AAA Fleet Manager Jason Cravens said. "That can cause you to have a blowout, a flat tire, things like that."
AAA also said they will come and help you even if you are not a member.
If you are in need of roadside assistance, call 1-800-AAA-HELP or a local service.
