Oklahoma City Zoo Nominated For Best Zoo, Best Zoo Exhibit

The local zoo is being recognized as one of the best in the country.

The Zoo received a nomination in USA Today's Reader's Choice for the Best Zoo and Best Zoo Exhibit competitions. Many animal lovers are pulling for the zoo to take home the big prize.

“It’s like a little piece of nature in the middle of the city,” says avid zoo attendee, Kaci North. "I told the boys we needed some nature in our life today."

Kaci’s son says his favorite exhibit is the Oklahoma Trails, which is the exhibit nominated in USA today.

“There’s a lot of stuff here that you wouldn’t normally get to see and they’ve put a lot of effort into making it one of the best zoo’s in the states,” Kaci said.

In order to officially win that title, the OKC Zoo will need a little bit of help from the community.

“We really appreciate the support we have from our community for the Oklahoma City Zoo,” said Candice Rennels, Director of Communication for the OKC Zoo.

“Getting the nominations would not have happened without the support of all those who visit the zoo and care about the zoo," said Rennels. "It really helped put us on the map as a destination location here in Oklahoma to visit and learn about wildlife."

But at the end of the day, it’s still a contest.

“We are now calling on all of our zoo fans near and far to help us win this great honor and top ranking by voting.”
