1 hospitalized due to NW OKC fire, apartment complex evacuated

One person was taken to a hospital after a fire Thursday evening in northwest Oklahoma City, firefighters said.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department said crews responded to a three-alarm commercial fire after 11 a.m. near North Portland Avenue and Northwest 28th Street.

Because of the fire’s proximity to a nearby apartment complex, firefighters evacuated residents.

One person from the complex was taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The structure that caught fire was deemed a total loss, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
