Nearly two dozen horses survived after a tornado demolished a horse boarding and event center in Norman.

Feather Creek Farm on 72nd Avenue Northeast was boarding 23 horses inside two barns when the tornado hit Sunday night.

One of the barns had its entire roof torn off while another lost part of its roof.

Despite the damage, only one of the horses suffered a scratch, a trainer Michelle Lundy with LaRica Performance Horses said. The rest of the horses were unscathed.

Lundy, who had 15 horses from her program boarded at Feather Creek Farm, said she could not believe all the horses survived the tornado.

"I knew they were dead. This is the third tornado that we've been through," Lundy said. "I was telling somebody yesterday. I said, 'I don't care if you don't believe in God, spirits, something - you can't tell me that somebody or some being did not try to protect us (Sunday) because this could have been way, way worse."

The horses were relocated to other properties.

In addition to the horse barns, the tornado destroyed the indoor arena at Feather Creek Farm, sending sheet metal into trees hundreds of feet away.

Several other structures on the property were damaged as well, including the home of the owner, Dynah Korhummel.

Lundy said Korhummel was trapped in the home for a little while due to a fallen tree but was not injured.

As for the farm, Lundy and Korhummel hoped to clean up the debris and rebuild with the help of volunteers.

"If we're not teaching or riding horses, we're not making any money. So we're trying to just get to where we're functional," Lundy said.

Those wishing to help can donate to the GoFundMe page benefiting Lundy and the horses in her program or donate to the GoFundMe page benefitting Korhummel and her facility. Lundy said some of the funds will pay for the horses' supplies and care while they stay on other people's properties.

Lundy said anyone wishing to volunteer to help with the cleanup can call her at 405-826-4987.
