The Oklahoma County Jail said it is working with Oklahoma City officials to pay nearly $500,000 bill.
The payment delay comes as the two sides are negotiating their annual agreement.
The jail's interim CEO said a money crunch could lead the trust to run out of money by June 1st.
A spokesperson for the detention center said that problem is due to several factors including inflation, the talks with the city, and the transition in the CEO's office.
