After a challenging day of winter weather, conditions in downtown Oklahoma City have significantly improved, with clear streets reported in most areas, thanks to melting snow and ice as the sun rose.

However, neighborhood streets may still have lingering icy patches, cautioning drivers to remain vigilant.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported 458 non-injury collisions, 85 injury accidents, and 43 abandoned vehicles statewide between 6 a.m. and midnight Thursday.

Troopers also assisted 254 motorists. Thankfully, no fatal crashes occurred.

Emergency responders have been busy, with EMSA reporting eight cold exposure calls in the past two days, six requiring hospitalizations.

Additionally, EMSA responded to 40 traffic accidents and transported 12 patients to hospitals—almost double the usual workload under normal weather conditions.

Drivers are urged to stay cautious as slick spots may persist despite improved road conditions.
