A proposed senate bill would allow municipalities to decide where a grow operation or dispensary can be located.
State lawmakers said it would give power back to the people when it comes to when it comes to medical marijuana business zoning.
"It just gives the power back to the local towns to let them decide on whether or not they want their dispensaries all over their town or only in a certain section, same with grow operations," Sen. Bill Coleman (R - Ponca City) said.
Existing operations would not be affected until their Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority license expires.
The bill now heads to the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
