Police on Friday released body camera video of State Representative Dean Davis' public intoxication arrest. The Broken Arrow legislator denies doing anything wrong.
The Oklahoma City Police report said two officers were wrapping up their shift when they noticed people sitting outside at a bar patio past 2:00 a.m., which is against the law.
Eleven minutes past 2:00 a.m., police said they noticed three men drinking at Skinny Slims' outdoor patio.
Davis asked an officer to read his state representative ID card while he was being arrested.
OKC Police officers said they gave Davis "ample opportunities to walk away."
Governor Kevin Stitt was asked to comment on the case. “Don’t know any specifics about that but we’re gonna be a law and order state in Oklahoma and we hold ourselves to higher standards, especially as public officials,” Stitt said.
Video shows Davis leaving the Oklahoma County Jail, then just hours later he was on the House floor.
Davis was booked at 3:45 in the morning and cast his first vote of the day at 10:15.
He made this comment on the floor Thursday: "I dispute any wrongdoing,” Davis said. “However I do want to take this opportunity to apologize to this body for creating this unnecessary distraction from the important work of the house."
The bartender told police that she told the group to leave, and told them they could not be on the patio drinking, but she said the group kept saying they were representatives.
