A murder suspect blamed bad drugs and a rash for his actions resulting in a man's death last week. Police arrested 19-year-old Michael Mccaulla in connection with the deadly southeast Oklahoma City shooting.

Crime tape and police surrounded an apartment complex last Thursday morning near Southeast 44th Street and Cherry Hill Lane. Investigators identified the murder victim as 27-year-old Isaac Beard. They said he was shot twice, once in the head.

“Was listed in critical condition,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “Sadly, passed away around 11:20 a.m. as a result of their injuries.”

During the investigation police were given photos of several people who ran from the apartment after the shooting, including the suspected gunman.

“It was mentioned the suspect had fled on foot in the area,” said Sgt. Quirk. “As a result, two elementaries were shut down, put on lockdown due to the suspect fleeing on foot.”

Officers were familiar with two of the witnesses in the photos and detained them for questioning. Police said the witnesses only knew the suspect as Mike Mike.

According to court documents, Mccaulla showed up to the apartment with a gun and was acting irrational, accusing the witnesses of giving him bad drugs the night before and causing a rash on his leg. Witnesses said Beard and Mccaulla were arguing if the suspect would actually shoot one of them. The witnesses said that was when Mccaulla pointed the gun at the victim and fired three times.

Mccaulla is being held in the Oklahoma County Detention Center without bond on a first-degree murder complaint.
