McClain County Sheriff's Department: 2 Dead, 50 Structures Destroyed

News 9’s Haley Weger spoke with the McClain County Sheriff's Department about Wednesday's tornado damage in Cole, Oklahoma.

At least 50 structures have been damaged or completely destroyed in the area, according to the sheriff's department.

The McClain County Sheriff's Department confirmed two people have died as a result from the tornado. One victim died on the scene and the second died after a heart attack on the way to a nearby hospital.

Volunteers from surrounding towns are assisting with search and clean-up efforts. 

Washington High School has opened a temporary shelter for residents in the area.
