OCPD Officer Hospitalized After Responding To Domestic Situation

The Oklahoma City Police were called to a residence near North Meridian Avenue and Northwest 19th Street regarding a domestic incident involving Deangelo Wright. 

Wright, 26, per the Oklahoma Department of Corrections has previous state convictions for several crimes including: Domestic Abuse, 2nd Degree Burglary, Carrying a Firearm After Previous Conviction.

After multiple attempts to contact Wright, he attacked the officer, knocking her unconscious and injuring her.

The suspect continued to attack the officer while she was unconscious. During the assault, a witness attempted to intervene, and she was attacked by Wright who fled before additional officers arrived at the scene.

OCPD officers arrested Wright hiding in a laundry room at an apartment complex near North Meridian several hours after the incident.

Wright will face several additional criminal complaints for Aggravated Assault and Battery on an Officer, Maiming, and Domestic Violence by Strangulation. Wright’s bond has been set at $10 million.
