Neighbors said they were shocked when they found out and never expected something like this to happen so close to home.
Police said they got a call for a welfare check around 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10. That’s when they said they found two people dead inside the home.
The victims are 48-year-old Annette Hammock and her 17-year-old son, officers said.
Police also said they found Annette’s husband, Phillip Hammock, with what they believe is a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
Phillip is in the hospital in critical condition and is in custody, police said.
Neighbor Kathy Morrell keeps a close eye on the neighborhood. She said she’s seen the victims outside before and never imagined this could happen.
“Shocking cause they’re quiet people. It’s just really quiet. Neighborhood keeps to themselves. It’s just quiet,” Morrell said.
Broken Arrow Public Schools said Annette's son attended the district since he was a child.
The district sent out a statement to parents as well as staff, saying in part: “It is with deep sadness that I inform you about a loss to our school community. Earlier today, one of our students died unexpectedly. This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students.”
BAPS said the teen was a junior at the high school. The school said counseling will be offered for students as well as staff.
