An Enid man accused of raping and murdering a toddler at a motel is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for a competency hearing.

Enid Police said Michael Geiger kidnapped 2-year-old Caliyah Guyton at a motel while her family was asleep, and brought her to a nearby room and sexually assaulted her.

Caliyah was later found dead in the motel pool.

Prosecutors in the case are seeking the death penalty against Geiger.

Geiger is expected to be in court Tuesday afternoon, where a judge will discuss an application to determine whether he's competent to stand trial.

Geiger has pleaded not guilty.
