An Edmond Police official said in an email Lt. Jennifer Haddock was arrested on a first-degree manslaughter complaint.

A 911 call was made at around 9:30 a.m. That call came from the Spring Creek apartment complex across the street from Edmond Memorial High School.

“We believe it was a domestic situation and not a random shooting,” said Emily Ward, public information officer with Edmond Police Department.

Ward released the information about Haddock after this morning's news conference. The Edmond Police Department’s Facebook page says Haddock has served in the Edmond community for seven years, and this is her second year as a school resource officer.

“All parties are cooperating and in contact with investigators,” Ward said. “This is still an active crime scene.”

Ward said Haddock tried to save her brother’s life before paramedics showed up.

“Fire crews and EMSA immediately went to work on the patient of course,” said Deputy Chief Chris Denton, with the Edmond Fire Department.

Ward said crews tried everything they could.

“Crews worked on him,” Ward said. “He was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Haddock’s colleagues arrested her and took her to the Oklahoma County Jail. It will be up to investigators to find out what happened before 9:30 on Thursday morning.

Haddock has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard practice for police departments. Her future with the department will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
