Oklahoma, we’re in for a rollercoaster of weather this week.
We are set to warm into the 50s and 60s by midweek.
After a few warmer days this week, temperatures are set to plunge dramatically as we welcome a Siberian blast.
What is the weather like on Tuesday?
Today, expect a chilly morning start with temperatures in the 20s and 30s across much of the region, but as the sun shines bright, we’ll warm things up into the low 50s by the afternoon.
Winds will be moderate, with the strongest gusts happening in northwest Oklahoma, but overall, it’s a pleasant day ahead.
Wind chills will be in the 20s and 30s early on, but don’t let that fool you – by the afternoon, the sun will be working its magic, and we’ll feel a little more comfortable.
What is the weather like this week?
Tomorrow will be similar, with mild temperatures reaching the low 50s once again.
It will be a great day to get outside and run any errands or enjoy some fresh air before the temperature drops.
However, the clouds will build by the evening as the colder air approaches. While it won’t be freezing, the evening will bring cooler temperatures, dropping back into the 20s and 30s. So be prepared for a chilly night, especially if you’ve got any outdoor plans.
The state will be warming to the 50s by midweek and even touching near 60°F by Friday.
The big arctic front arrives this weekend. We could see a little snow, but the main impact will be the cold.
Siberian Surge:
Don’t get too comfortable with the warmer temps. A powerful blast of Siberian air is set to plunge into Oklahoma this weekend, bringing a dramatic temperature drop.
Starting Saturday, we’re in for a significant shift as Arctic air pours down from the north, causing temperatures to drop fast. We're talking highs struggling to hit the 20s on Sunday and Monday, and a light snow event could make the roads slick in some areas.
The Siberian surge means a few days of bitter cold wind chills, especially in the mornings. Be prepared for single-digit lows and the potential for frozen pipes – so don’t forget to drip those faucets! And if you're wondering about snowfall, we could see anywhere from a dusting to an inch, especially in the Panhandle, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the forecast.
Expect a chilly, crisp Sunday with snow possible, but not a major storm. Still, any snow with these freezing temperatures could make travel tricky. Wind chills will be a big issue, especially early in the day. With temperatures expected to rebound briefly into the 40s by the middle of next week, this cold snap will hopefully be short-lived, though we might have another cold blast to follow soon after.
Snowfall Highlights:
Oklahoma City's snowfall for the month is now above the January average of 1.8 inches, reaching 3.1 inches.
