After a warm and windy start to the week, Tuesday looks to be no different with highs in the 70s.
What is the weather like on Tuesday?
Some parts of Oklahoma will reach 80 degrees, but we are still watching and waiting for storm chances in the midweek.
Our first storm arrives Wednesday. This one will ramp up the wind some. Isolated rain and storm chances go up as well.
The second storm is much stronger! This upper-level wave will drastically increase over the Plains.
This means extreme winds, especially across Oklahoma. Ahead of the dryline, severe storms are possible.
This threat is mainly east of I-35. We will have more details as it gets closer to us.
Right now, this looks to be much more dangerous for states to our east. May be a severe weather outbreak.
For Oklahoma, the wind will gusts 55 to 65 mph.
This could mean blowing dust, power outages, minor damage, and extreme wildfire danger.
TORNADO SAFETY:
How to stay safe during tornado season
The first step in preparing for tornado season is to identify your safe spot. This is the area in your home that provides the most protection in the event of a tornado. For most homes, the safest spot is the lowest level of your house, such as the
basement or a storm cellar if you have one. If a basement or storm shelter isn't available, head to the most interior room on the lowest floor, like a bathroom, closet, or hallway—away from windows and doors.
Make sure the family knows what to do if a warning is issued for your area. If you are prepared, there's no reason to be scared.
It's always a good idea to have an emergency kit ready to go. In case of severe weather, you may be stuck in your safe spot for a while, so it’s essential to have the necessary supplies on hand.
