Record highs are possible over the next several days.
Tuesday will start with temps in the 50s across Oklahoma as drought conditions continue.
Today will feel more like early September than late October.
Highs will be in the 80s and 90s with sunny skies.
Tonight, there are near-record warm lows with 50s and 60s around.
We're seeing a lack of rain, contributing to Oklahoma's fire risk.
The list of counties under burn bans continues to grow as well.
Due to the ongoing drought, Oklahoma lakes are low.
Some are several feet below their average.
What is the weather like in Oklahoma for the rest of the week?
Record highs are very possible over the next several days, and the fire danger is still high, especially with high winds.
Tomorrow, a weak cold front moves in and stalls out, keeping northern Oklahoma a little cooler.
It will be in the mid-80s in OKC and in the 90s to the south.
Along and south of that boundary, there is a very slight chance for isolated showers on Wednesday.
On Thursday, clear skies continue, and highs will be in the upper 80s. However, it will again be hot and windy, with high fire danger.
EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS
HYDRATION is key in preventing heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before and during long exposure to the summer heat.
Wear light-colored, loose fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if working outdoors, and take plenty of shade breaks.
No alcohol or caffeine.
If you do not have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space (such as libraries or malls) during the day.
Don’t limit your use of air conditioning.
Use the buddy system if working outdoors and check on elderly neighbors.
Keep a cellphone on you at all times when outdoors, including walking, running daily errands, yard work or sports and physical activity.
