Wish Granted: Yukon 7-Year-Old Given Pool Through Make-A-Wish

When the good people at Make-A-Wish heard about seven-year-old Montana, they knew immediately this was a wish they had to make happen.

“When I went in to just get monitored, because I felt like something was off, we found out I had no amniotic fluid, and she was actually suffocating,” said Kristin Pursley, Montana’s mother.

At 27 weeks, Kristin gave birth to one-pound eight-ounce Montana.

“In July we went to the doctor because her respiratory rate was a little high, they called the hospital we went to OU, and everything went south from there,” said Pursley.

Montana went through some challenges and even had to use a ventilator, and through it all there was one thing sure to make her smile.

“Her biggest thing is, she loves water,” said Kristin.

“We’re on track to grant 199 wishes this year, just in the state of Oklahoma,” said Madison Boyle with Make-A-Wish Oklahoma.

When the staff at Make-A-Wish Oklahoma heard about Montana and her love for water, they went to work.

“It might be to travel somewhere, to have a shopping spree, to be a police officer for a day, to have a pool,” said Boyle.

“Just to help out, you know this is what community is all about,” said Chance Edmonds with Knock Out Junk Removal.

Chance Edmonds and the Edmonds Family donated the material for the deck, so that Montana would be able to enjoy the pool.

“I picked up all the materials, got everything, met with Matt, and Boldt construction,” said Edmonds.

“Our job was really to put in the lift, make sure that it was installed correctly with the foundation, and then provide some steps and deck,” said Matthew Boersma, with The Boldt Company.

The pool not only provides enjoyment for the family, but they also use it for physical therapy, to strengthen Montana’s legs.

All the work and supplies were donated, and for everything, Montana signed “thank you.”

The family and all the workers became extremely close throughout the process, and the family says they are planning a big cookout for everyone involved to come out and swim.
