State Fire Marshals are investigating a possible arson in Logan County. Crews said the house caught fire Saturday morning and some witnesses even heard the homeowner saying she started it.
Boarded-up windows are hiding the charred remains of what's left. “The living room was completely damaged and not livable at this time,” Guthrie Fire Chief Dane Lausen said.
Lausen said multiple crews responded to a fire on Hilltop Dr Saturday morning. “There was Guthrie fire department, Sooner volunteer fire department, and Oak Cliff fire department,” Lausen said.
When firefighters got to the house there was heavy fire. “Usually when we do an interior attack, we deem the structure safe for us to go in and do an offensive attack on the fire,” Lausen said.
Chief Lausen said the property owners made it out, but a pet didn't make it. “There was one deceased dog found in the front bedroom,” Lausen said.
Right now, no one has been arrested and the state fire marshal's office is the lead on the investigation. Lausen said the Logan County Sheriff's office assisted with the call. They ended up detaining the property owner. “The battalion chief was notified by the neighbors that the property owner did not want fire crews on scene at the time,” Lausen said.
Neighbors in the area tell News 9 they saw smoke and the owner insisted that they not call anyone for help. They said the woman was heavily intoxicated and they heard her say she started the fire.
“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation,” Fire Chief Lausen said.
