New information was released on Wednesday in a fatal shooting case out of Del City. According to police, a man was shot to death in front of his house just before midnight on Thursday, October 19. Del City police released a slightly blurred picture of the suspect’s vehicle, a maroon SUV. The victim’s finance, Amanda Brock, is hoping this picture will lead to an arrest. She said she was the one who found 38-year-old Darius Ellis.

“I was woken up by my oldest child,” Brock said.

Thursday night, she woke up to a nightmare. “That was the most traumatic thing I’ve ever had to see in my life,” she said.

She said she heard gunshots then walked out and found her fiancé shot to death in front of their home on SE 27th Street in Del City. She said they only took his keys and gun. “It definitely was towards him, it was definitely targeted,” she said.

However, Brock said she doesn't understand why he was a target. “Nobody has ever disliked him,” she said. “He was the best man anybody could meet.”

Brock said they have a 5-month-old boy together and were planning a wedding for next year. She said Ellis was helping raise her three other children by working two jobs to support the family. She said he was walking home from his truck when he was shot. “They don't have anybody, and they looked at him as their own dad,” Brock said of her children. “He has three stepsons that adore him and they're very hurt right now.”

Police haven’t named any suspects but say the suspect’s vehicle in the photo was taken when the suspect arrived at the scene, a place where Brock says she won’t return. “They have my house keys, and I can't go outside and look right there,” she said.

Instead, she wants to remember her fiancé as the family man he was. “He was a cherished man, he was so amazing,” she said.

Brock has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with the funeral costs, click here to donate: Fundraiser by Amanda Brock : Darius Quintell Ellis Sr (gofundme.com). Meanwhile, if you have any information about this case, contact Del City Police at 405-677-2443.
