The long-awaited last Bedlam is almost here.
For OU and OSU students, fans, and alumni this day is more about football. It’s about years and years of rivalry.
Mixed emotions will flood into Boone-Pickens Stadium as the people who bleed orange and who bleed crimson fill the stands. The student section decked out in school spirit, and the visiting fans will try to match their excitement from the opposite side of the field.
This game is mysterious. No one can quite pinpoint its’ origin. However, some believed it started as a game in which Oklahoma and Oklahoma State ‘players’ would dive into a frozen creek to retrieve a football.
The dictionary definition of “Bedlam,” a noun, is “a place, scene, or state of uproar and confusion.” And it has been just that, year after year.
And the last Bedlam game has been tough for the Sooners. It’s not only the last game for OU and OSU seniors, it’s the last one for everyone. That being said, tickets are hard to come by. Especially if you aren’t willing to fork up hundreds of dollars.
The cheapest ticket News 9 found was $460 on Monday. With tickets in the thousands scattered between. The front row of section 119 was listed for $9,755 on Ticketmaster Monday afternoon-- the most expensive ticket listed.
If you are a die-hard fan, maybe those prices are worth seeing the last Bedlam game in person. But a lot of people will have to settle for watching the game on television.
Cameron Joiner joined the News 9 team as a Multimedia Journalist in January of 2023. Cameron was born and raised in Sugar Land, Texas, just outside of Houston. Though she is a Texan at heart she has fallen in love with Oklahoma. She came to the Sooner State to attend OU, where she majored in Broadcast Journalism.
