The cold temperatures may be putting a chill on some families’ Halloween plans. One metro area neighborhood is preparing for the flood of children despite the weather.
It’s Mallory Carter’s seventh Halloween in Mesta Park.
“I think [Halloween is] really one of the things that defines our neighborhood and brings our neighborhood together,” Carter said. “Can’t beat Halloween in Mesta.”
Carter estimates 300-400 trick-or-treaters a year.
“I think for a lot of families, the cold will be nothing,” Carter said. “I think we’ll still have lots of families and lots of kids out trick-or-treating and a lot of families passing out candy.”
This year Carter prepared 12 pounds of chili, coffee, cider, cocoa and whiskey, trying to keep the flood of people warm as they make their rounds.
