The countdown to the final Big 12 Bedlam football game is on. For sports analyst and former University of Oklahoma football player Dusty Dvoracek, the historic game will bring back some Bedlam memories.

From national radio, co-hosting the “Dusty and Danny” program on Sirius XM Ch 84, to his game analysis on the Blitz, Dvoracek is always talking sports.

“This time of year. It's college football all the time,” he said.

This week, he's preparing for the biggest game in the state, Bedlam.

“You can feel the energy and the whole week leading up, you know what it means to the fan base those bragging rights in state,” he said. “The fact that this week is going to be the last one for who knows how long, that makes it more special.”

It’s a rivalry Dvoracek admits he grew to appreciate as an OU defensive lineman, playing in the trenches where the real battle takes place.

“A lot of emotion, rivalry game, everything they say is true,” he said.

Dvoracek played football for the University of Oklahoma from 2001 to 2005 and even suited up and played his first Bedlam game as a freshman.

“It was a massive upset, I mean it was devastating,” he remembers.

It was also eye opening.

“You realize the whole next year what it's like to lose Bedlam because you hear about it, you feel it all season long,” he said “So, it was a tough welcome to the Bedlam rivalry."

Then in his second year, OU lost at home.

“That next year they left no doubt,” he said. “They gave is a butt kicking which we weren't accustomed to.”

It wasn’t until 2003 when he felt the sweet taste of Bedlam victory.

“I’ll never forget it was one of the best wins I can remember, and we won 52 to 9,” he said. “We put so much into that game because the previous two years they had beaten us.”

Now, as a sportscaster, this former OU football player will return to Stillwater to call all the shots during the final OSU/OU game.

“It's an amazing feeling, I’m not going to lie, to be a part of it as a player now to living in the state,” he said. “For anybody that's concerned or worried in any way I will handle Bedlam with the upmost respect for both sides knowing I’m not going to make everybody happy but I’m going to do my job to the best of my ability and do it the right way.”

And his thoughts about this rivalry ever returning?

“I am optimistic that it will happen at some point,” Dvoracek said. “Do I think it's going to happen anytime soon? No probably not, so let's enjoy this one. It should be a special day in Stillwater on Saturday."
