A local business is giving hope through soap. Magnolia Soap & Bath introduced its new skyline soap this month.

Each month, Magnolia stores will partner with an area nonprofit or charity for its "Hope in Soap" initiative. The Downtown Tulsa Partnership (DTP) was chosen for January.

The nonprofit visited Magnolia’s Cherry Street store to help create and design the bar of soap.

Magnolia manager Sarah Eidson described the new scent.

"This one is Midnight Magnolia. It is a blend of Moonlight and Magnolia scent which is our signature scent and it is beautiful, she said. “It is really good for men or women."

To make the bar of soap even more unique, the team put the downtown Tulsa skyline on it. Eidson said it was fun coming up with the concept.

"Hearing about their nonprofit and seeing how we can help, how we can bring awareness to that by creating something beautiful to look at, to smell, and also something that is useful, it is just really fun,” she added.

A bar of skyline soap is $8 with $4 of each bar sold at Magnolia’s Cherry Street and Woodland Hills Mall stores being donated to the Downtown Tulsa Partnership. Also, when customers shop at the stores from January 15 through the 19th DTP will receive an additional 20% off the entire purchase.

The nonprofit’s President & CEO Brian Kurtz said this partnership helps support their work.

"Our mission and goals are to create a vibrant, prosperous, and inclusive downtown and as a nonprofit organization we are always in search of partnerships that help us achieve that mission,” he said.

Some of DTP’s current efforts include cleaning up downtown Tulsa and assisting people experiencing unsheltered homelessness this winter.

Kurtz said, “Our team is going to be out in the field helping people get over into shelters and making sure that they are safe during this cold spell."

Proving this initiative is more than just a bar of soap, it is a beacon of hope.

Magnolia Soap & Bath has two Tulsa locations at 1325 E 15th St. on Cherry Street and inside Woodland Hills Mall on S Memorial Drive.
