Tulsa International Airport now has a $2 million grant to help encourage airlines to offer more direct flights, adding to the 23 cities with direct service now to Tulsa.
It comes after 2023 was a record year. “We had 3.1 million passengers, so gaining on that momentum is something we're continually updating the airlines on, how we're performing here in Tulsa and how the routes we serve now are currently performing,” said Stephanie Chester, the Marketing Director for Tulsa International.
The Airport plans to solicit new direct connections from the most popular destinations currently with only connecting flights: San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, and Boston. The $2 million grant will serve as a guarantee for airlines offering new direct flights, promising airlines they’ll have income to initiate the service.
“We are making strides in Tulsa and it's a great way to show the airlines that it's a great opportunity for them to either add service or increase frequency,” said Chester.
