Across Oklahoma, Rescue And Recovery Organizations Band Together To Face Destruction Caused By Severe Weather

Several organizations are working together this week to help those impacted by severe weather across Oklahoma.

The American Red Cross of Oklahoma has shelters open in Sulphur and Ardmore, with mass care and feeding operations underway.

Oklahoma Southern Baptist Disaster Relief has two chainsaw teams working together in Morris, and has provided at least 200 meals. In addition, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)-trained chaplains are also available for affected residents and first responders.

In Murray and Love Counties, the Salvation Army is providing first responders with meals, and emotional and spiritual care workers are also available.

Following devastation in Sulphur, even private citizens are pitching in.

Saul Medina has been volunteering in Sulphur, offering water, coffee and sandwiches to first responders and thanking them for their work.

Medina said his time volunteering is just a small gesture for the large amount of work ahead.

State officials are asking anyone affected by storms to report damages at damage.ok.gov, which will help emergency managers coordinate recovery.
