One person died after a tornado hit the town of Marietta, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the severe weather caused a semi truck to crash. It came to a stop at a guardrail and the passenger was ejected.

The passenger died at the scene and the driver is at a local hospital in critical condition. No other injuries were reported from this tornado.

The Marietta tornado has been rated as an EF-4. Meteorologists estimate that winds reached up to 170 miles per hour.

The tornado was on the ground for 27 miles.

The Mercy Health Love County hospital sustained significant damage from the tornado. Workers at Mercy were able to relocate patients, and no injuries occurred.

Patients have been relocated to other facilities in order to receive care, as the hospital is not suitable at this time.

Mercy is working to establish a temporary service in Marietta at this time. They anticipate the reopening of this location to take several months.
