News 9 viewers shared that they felt an earthquake around 5:53 p.m. on Thursday.

According to OSN, the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale and was located 4.2 miles east/northeast of Edmond, and 14.3 miles south of Guthrie.

OSN has the time near the epicenter at 5:53 p.m.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission released a statement following the earthquake Thursday:

"The latest earthquake activity is in the same area that has seen multiple events since January. As before, there is no hydraulic fracturing in the area, and there are no oil and gas wastewater disposal wells disposing into the Arbuckle formation. Those are the potential sources under OCC jurisdiction for induced seismicity. Arbuckle disposal wells in the area were shut down by the Corporation Commission years ago as part of the OCC's earthquake mitigation effort.
"The activity in the area remains under study by the Oklahoma Geological Survey and the Oklahoma Corporation Commission's Induced Seismicity department."

OGS also sent News 9 a statement:

"We consider this event an aftershock of the sequence of M4.3 and M4.1 earthquakes that occurred in the Edmond/Arcadia area in January."
