It’s Olympic excitement at Noble Public Schools, and these athletes have been looking forward to this day the entire school year.

“We believe in total inclusion at Noble Public Schools,” said Superintendent Frank Solomon.

Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games begin later this week in Stillwater.

“We have a lot of students that don’t have the ability to go to Stillwater for the statewide games in the Spring, so we decided to do our own,” said Solomon.

Even though the morning’s weather forced a pivot.

“As long as you can have fun, who cares if you’re inside or outside,” said Solomon.

After a quick photo and instructions, it was time for the fun to begin.

“Over a hundred participants, in addition to one hundred partners. And partners are our regular ed students that form a bond with these special need students,” said Solomon.

“We’re a dynamic duo,” said Students Nevaea and Kinsey.

The two were paired and made an instant bond.

“It was really fun; we’re like besties now,” said Nevaea.

With a purpose that, at least for today, no one saw disabilities.

“Special needs students are students, and that’s how we want them to be treated,” said Solomon.

“It’s very special, our kids get to do something that they don’t typically get to do,” said Susie Cunningham, Special Education Teacher at KID Elementary School.

Doing things like running, jumping, throwing, playing cornhole, and course, you have to have a good game of duck, duck, goose.

“It’s awesome. Anybody is a winner that shows up in this building today,” said Solomon.
