Juneteenth On The East Shares The Importance Of The Holiday On The Porch

A local committee called Juneteenth on the East is dedicated to educate and inspire others about the significance of the holiday.

Juneteenth on the East sat down with News 9 on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to show why spreading awareness and education about Juneteenth is so important.

Jabee Williams and Dashari Miller explained what makes Juneteenth such a special holiday.

"I think, for me, the most important thing is it's the day that we recognize the liberation of all people in America being free. We were starting to see more and learn more about," Williams said.

Juneteenth on the East is committed to spreading the message behind the holiday, as well as coming together as a community to celebrate it.

"We see the Juneteenth celebration for everybody and not just for one group of people, because it's American history so just finding cool ways to collaborate is very important too," Williams said.
