The Oklahoma County Board of Commissioners is suing Oklahoma City over the city's denial of a zoning permit for the new county jail, court documents show.

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday, the county claims its sovereignty over the issue, and says it has a duty to provide a safe jail.

The county is asking the court to block the city from denying any zoning or permits that delays or prevents the county from building a jail and mental health facility at the proposed site along East Grand Boulevard.
