The 18-time state champion Jenks Trojans are back at work this week as they prepare for the 2024 season.

New faces and new coaches are experiencing the "Trojan Way" for the first time. Part of the experience includes some extra motivation left over from last season.

The Trojans were looking to tie Ada for the most titles in Oklahoma history last season with their run to the championship game against Bixby. The Spartans were back for their second straight appearance at the 6A-1 level, featuring a roster that might be one of the best they have ever had. A 49-21 loss for Jenks on a December night still echoes with the coaches and players.

"Every morning I wake up, that's the first thing on my mind," says Jenks defensive coordinator Adam Gaylor. "These early morning 6 a.m. practices, that's the first thing I think of. We're trying to use that as extra motivation and get a little chip on our shoulder."

The Trojans have several new faces, not only with the players but on the staff as well. It's a process that the coaches know is one that is "day by day and rep by rep," according to Gaylor. "Iron Sharpens Iron"

You can watch the interview with Coach Gaylor above, which includes an update on his wife, Kinsey, and her health after being diagnosed with cancer.
