Jenks Local Business Excited For Foot Traffic To Come From Outlet Mall

Small businesses in Jenks were excited for people to visit the town after the outlet mall opened.

Stores on Main Street in Jenks stocked up and got ready for thousands of people to make their way into town.

“We are so excited for the outlet malls to open,” said Tatum Roberts. 

Roberts is the co-owner of Motley Market in downtown Jenks. She believed the mall would bring more people to shop in her store.

“The more that there is around us, that just attracts more people to Jenks, and even if we only get a fraction of that traffic that is substantial to a small business, so we are just so excited to have just more and more reason for people to be here,” she said. 

James Pearce has been running American Heritage Antiques on Main Street for nearly 25 years.

“Will it really improve the businesses downtown? I think more for some of the service businesses, the restaurants, the bars, things like that, yeah, it definitely will,” he said. 

Pearce said he wasn't sure if the mall would help his daily business but thought it would be good for Jenks as a whole.

“There will be some of that that people go, 'Oh well, let's stop down here, let's take a stroll down main street, let's see what's happening in this historic part,' so yeah, it's going to be a plus,” he said. 

Whether it was new clothes or old antiques, business owners were excited for people to shop till they dropped in Jenks, America.

The Jenks outlet mall opens at 10 a.m. on Aug. 15, 2024. Simon Premium Outlets said it expected thousands of people to visit during opening weekend.
