Upgrades Planned For Parking Garage At Tulsa Central Library

The Central Library in downtown Tulsa will be getting some upgrades to its parking garage.

The Central Library Manager, Buddy Ingalls, says the last time the parking garage was updated was during the renovation of the library eight years ago.

Ingalls says the current technology is becoming outdated. As part of the upgrades, they are improving payment options by adding the ability to pay by phone and credit card.

Additionally, a walk-up parking kiosk will be available inside the Central Library, and patrons will be able to use mobile pay from their phones.

Cash payments will no longer be accepted at the garage's exit gates.

The new system aims to ensure that parking is reserved primarily for library patrons, not for people needing to go to the courthouse.

During the transition to the new system, the parking garage will stay open, but you'll only be able to enter and exit from either Fourth Street or Fifth Street.

“It’s going to be much more convenient for our library customers, and we always just want to make sure people coming to the library have the best experience as possible. So, removing any barriers, giving them a more options,” Ingalls said. 

Construction will begin in September and should take about two weeks.
