The Republican Party is also holding a runoff in the Tulsa County Commissioner District 2 race. Lonnie Sims secured 40% of the vote in June, while Melissa Myers received 31%.
The Tulsa County GOP office isn't hosting a watch party tonight, but both Lonnie Sims and Melissa Myers expressed their enthusiasm about representing Republicans in this race.
This afternoon, Sims, who resides in Jenks, and Myers, who lives in Sand Springs, cast their ballots alongside their families. The candidates have stark differences in political experience. Myers, proud of her newcomer status, has no background in holding public office. Sims, on the other hand, has an extensive political resume, having served as a Jenks Planning Commissioner, City Councilor, Mayor, and most recently, as a state senator.

Despite their differences, Sims and Myers share common ground. Both are married with children and say their primary motivation is to serve their communities. They also agree on the county's top priorities: infrastructure and public safety.
“The levee, getting that accomplished, that’s a top priority, along with ensuring that 56% of the county budget is utilized for schools,” Myers said.
Sims echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure and public safety.
“The two things you have to get right are infrastructure and public safety. That’s the core of any government. If you don’t get those two things right, you’re really going to struggle with economic development, social services, and quality of life,” Sims said.
Both candidates plan to spend the evening at home with their families and friends, continuing to make calls and send text messages to remind voters they still have time to cast their ballots.
