The Big Dam Party kicks off this afternoon to celebrate the new attractions along Tulsa's Riverfront.

The four-day event includes everything from live music to art installations to the world's largest rubber duck.

The Big Dam Party marks the opening of Zink Lake, Tulsa Wave Park, the Williams Crossing Pedestrian Bridge, and a larger riverfront at the Gathering Place.

More than 16 live bands or artists will perform this weekend, including the headliner, Hanson.

Renee McKenny is the President of Tulsa Regional Tourism and says this free family event will showcase Tulsa as a waterfront city.

"So to celebrate the Gathering Place and all that it's brought attention-wise in the nation, like winning Best Park by USA Today," said McKenny. "And now you have a waterfront feature that is now people will be on kayaks, and boats, and you're going to see a pedestrian bridge that people are going to be crossing and walking."

The opening ceremony and ribbon cutting with Mayor GT Bynum will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Gathering Place Great Lawn.

Then, around 4:15 p.m., everyone plans to walk across the river on the new pedestrian bridge.

Officials say you can bring your own food and drinks to the Big Dam Party, but no outside alcohol will be allowed. They also ask that you leave your pets at home.

You can find a full list of activities for the entire weekend, including maps of where to go, on the Gathering Place Website.
