They've played in front of more than 40,000 fans before; the rivalry has also been featured by NFL films.
When Jenks and Union get together it's called the Backyard Bowl, and it's usually really good. This latest installment, once again our Tulsa Tech Game of the Week, at Union-Tuttle Stadium.
Jenks came in having won seven of the last 10 against their rivals, so the question: would home cooking be the difference on Friday night for the Redhawks?
The game was low-scoring, as one might expect, or maybe not.
Second quarter, scoreless Jenks was on the move, with quarterback Owen Jones to Malakai Dillard on the crossing route on the left hand side. Big game, but missed the field goal on that drive, so still nil-nil.
Union quarterback Shaker Reisig tries to pull it but he’s brought down by Zach Fischer, settled for a field goal that was up and good for the first points of the ballgame.
3-nothing at the half, but in the third quarter, finally a touchdown, Reisig hard play action hits Miles Davis, 10 yard off the pop pass for an extra point, no good. 9-nothing Union.
Jenks would kick a field goal to avoid the shutout, making the game 9-3 Union.
